The Unbroken Eggs

Fifi promises to carry the eggs home from the market, but the walk is full of surprises!

2 min readAges 5-8

At the market, Mom picked up a carton of eggs. Fifi reached out. 'Can I carry them? I'll be super careful!' Mom smiled and handed them over. 'It's a promise, Fifi.'

Momo looked up at the carton. 'Are you sure, Fifi? Eggs are like little fragile moons.' Fifi held the carton tight. 'I'll walk slow and steady.'

On the path home, Fifi kept her eyes on the carton. Suddenly, a squirrel dashed across, and a boy on a trike zoomed past. Fifi wobbled but caught herself.

Momo gasped and tiptoed beside her. 'That was close! Are the eggs okay?' Fifi peeked inside. All were safe. Momo whispered, 'Slow like a turtle, Fifi.' They both giggled and kept walking.

At home, Fifi opened the fridge and placed the carton inside carefully. Mom gave her a hug. 'You did it, Fifi! Not a single crack.'

Fifi and Momo counted the eggs together, twelve smooth, whole eggs. Fifi closed the fridge door, and Momo patted it with his paw. 'Good job, careful Fifi!'
