The Pretend Dragon
Fifi tells Sam she has a pet dragon, but the story gets too big. With Momo's help, she finds the courage to set it straight.
Fifi and Momo were drawing chalk flowers on the patio when Sam from next door peeked over the fence. "Guess what?" Fifi said, her eyes sparkling. "I have a pet dragon in the shed!"
Momo tilted his head and asked, "Where does your dragon sleep?"
Sam's mouth opened wide. "Can I see it? Please?" Fifi's tummy did a little flip. "Not now, he's very sleepy, " she said quickly. Momo accidentally bumped a watering can, and water splashed across the stones.
Fifi pointed, "Look, the dragon left a puddle!" Sam giggled, but Fifi's cheeks felt warm.
Fifi took a deep breath. "There isn't really a dragon, " she whispered. "I was just pretending." Sam blinked, then grinned. "Pretending is the best! Can we all be dragons together?"
Soon, three dragons were zooming around the yard, flapping their arms and roaring. Momo chased a butterfly, fluttering after it like a dragon with tiny wings.
