The Honest Sprout
When Fifi accidentally knocks over a flower pot, she and Momo must decide whether to hide the mistake or tell the truth. Her honesty leads to a special surprise she can watch grow.
Fifi and Momo walked along the block. "That red pot has the prettiest flowers!" Fifi skipped to Mrs. Garcia's porch. She touched a petal, but the pot tipped. Crack! Dirt scattered.
Momo's ears drooped. "Oh no. What will we do?" Fifi stared at the mess. Her heart thumped.
Fifi wanted to hurry away, but Momo pressed close. "Mrs. Garcia is kind, " he said softly. So Fifi knocked on the door. Momo whispered, "Maybe tell her the pot took a little tumble?" Fifi almost smiled, but her hands were still shaky.
When Mrs. Garcia answered, Fifi blurted, "I broke your flower pot. I'm sorry." Mrs. Garcia knelt down. "Accidents happen, Fifi. But you told me the truth. That's a big thing." She hugged her.
Mrs. Garcia pulled a tiny green sprout from the soil. "This little plant needs a new home. Will you take care of it?" Fifi nodded, her eyes wide.
In her yard, Fifi and Momo dug a soft hole. She tucked the sprout in and pressed the dirt gently. Momo sniffed it and sneezed, sending dirt up his nose. Fifi giggled. "Grow strong, little honest plant, " she whispered.
