Fifi clutched the new book against her chest. "I'm going to read it all by myself, " she told Momo. The little fox tilted his head. "But what if Lily wants to see?"

Fifi shrugged. "She can look later. I want to be first." Just then, a knock came at the door.

Quickly, Fifi slid the book under the couch cushion. Lily bounced in. "Let's play!" They chased around the room until Lily flopped onto the cushion. "Ow!" She pulled out the book. "What's this?"

Fifi's cheeks grew warm. Momo sniffed the cover and sneezed, making a tiny puff of dust. Lily giggled. Fifi took a breath. "It's my new book. Want to read it together?"

Lily's face lit up. They curled up together, and Fifi opened the book.

Lily read the rabbit's lines in a squeaky voice. Fifi did the moon fairy in a whispery one. Momo added little howls whenever the fox appeared.

By the last page, they were all howling with laughter. Momo's tail thumped happily on the open book as if keeping their place for next time.
